We went on a little weekend get away to mystic, Connecticut. I was looking for bed and breakfasts that allow for dogs, not wanting to leave our German Shepherd, Tucker, behind (expensive for boarding and lonely for doggies). Luckily, i stumbled upon the Harboure Inn and Cottage, about 2.5 hours from nyc. Claude, the inn keeper, was super nice and very thorough (he provided us with a cute map of the town and pointed out restaurants, shops, etc.). So we were all set to go have a night on the town, or so we thought...
That's Tucker! Isn't he cute? I think the cuteness is what prevented me from getting called by DCS (i just made that up--doggie version of ACS). Although Tucker is very well trained to stay home by himself and not bark or make noise, dogs do not generalize very well. We kind of anticipated this. Kind of. So, we were in the middle of enjoying this:
When we got a call from Claude the Innkeeper. "Tucker is making all kind of noise! You better come back quick!". So, we went. And, sure enough, as soon as we got there Tucker calmed down right away. It was almost too calm. Like he was mocking us. He really is calm most of the time! I swear! But anyway, we brought him around for the rest of the trip:
Of course, we had to go to Mystic Pizza (cmon, Julia Roberts 80s movie. Now you remember right?) So we went and took cheesy pictures as usual. We also learned some useful and important information about Connecticut's state laws. Ready for this? NO ALCOHOL CAN BE PURCHASED ON SUNDAYS. Crazy, right? We tried to pick up some beers to go with our house special pizza pie, but no such luck. Here we are after finding this little tidbit out:

Sad night. But, its ok! we had a bottle of wine back at the Inn! We also met a nice couple who took full advantage of the kitchen amenities and cozy den with fireplace (we were kind of lame, and didn't want to burn down the log cabin). They had three cute (read: loud) dogs in tow, but left before some grumpy dog-less guy almost fed them to the fire (why would you go to a pet hotel if you don't have any pets?!) All in all it was a really cool, relaxing, and fun trip. I highly recommend the place we stayed at, although I think next time I would like to rent the cottage and bring some family and/or friends along!
